We’ve compiled a list of five of the best projects that feature Nebula® Expanded Mesh.

Nebula® expanded mesh system has been instrumental in transforming various architectural projects across the UK. The façade system not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of structures but also ensures functionality through natural ventilation and durability. Below are five standout projects that showcase the versatility and impact of the Nebula® system.

GRINDLEY HILL COURT CAR PARK, STOKE-ON-TRENT

As part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands' NHS Trust, Grindley Hill Court car park features over 3,700 m² of silver Nebula® expanded mesh panels. north manchester general hospital multi-storey car park, manchester

In collaboration with Morgan Sindall and AFL Architects, Maple Façades delivered a bespoke façade for the hospital's new 1,000-space car park. The design incorporates laser-cut aluminium panels with a pseudo-random triangular pattern, complemented by Nebula® expanded mesh installed in a sawtooth configuration on the north elevation and a zigzag formation on the south. This combination ensures ample natural light and ventilation while presenting a striking appearance.

ROTHERHAM INTERCHANGE MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK, rotherham

As part of a £12 million refurbishment, Maple installed Nebula® expanded mesh panels to create a colourful pattern on the elevations of Rotherham Interchange car park. Sourced from Spanish metal experts IMAR, these panels transformed the multi-storey car park into a visually engaging structure, aligning with the architect's vision of combining practicality with aesthetic appeal.

EDEN CAMPUS CAR PARK, KINGSTON UPON THAMES

Within the Eden Campus redevelopment, Maple Façades contributed to the new multi-storey car park by supplying and installing a façade comprising perforated panels and Nebula® expanded mesh. The expanded mesh panels were installed along the lower levels of the car park and feature a series of laser-cut diamonds of various sizes to create an intricate honeycomb effect. These panels also feature a 50mm folded return, forming a sawtooth configuration to further add to the impressive visual effect of the façade.

The panels, powder-coated in shades of grey, silver, and gold, are complemented by vibrant living walls, creating a successful blend of aluminium elements and biophilic design. In 2023, the project was also recognised by the North-West Regional Construction Awards, and received the ‘Cheshire, Wirral and Warrington Sub Regional Project of the Year’.
