A new car park in East Yorkshire will feature Maple’s award-winning twisted fins.
Maple’s latest car park façade contract is located in Bridlington and forms part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s £15.5 million investment to improve infrastructure and accessibility.
The standout architectural element of the car park is its wave-inspired exterior which will be created using Vector® twisted fins. The spirals will mimic the natural flow of waves and coincide with Bridlington’s seaside identity.
In order to retain their shape, each fin is tensioned using spring-loaded brackets, a technique we first engineered for the highly successful Victoria Gate multi-storey car park in 2016.
Continuum® perforated panels with bespoke hexagon-patterned perforations will also be installed on the lower levels of the north and south elevations. On the west elevation, they will form an attractive backdrop behind the twisted fins, adding variety and depth while ensuring functionality through natural ventilation.
The third architectural element featuring on Bridlington car park is Aspect® CTV rainscreen cladding which will be fixed to the stair cores. This system is specifically designed for vertical applications on concrete structures, making it ideal for stair cores. It is also tested and certified to BS 8414-2:2020 standards, ensuring fire safety and durability in line with Building Regulations.
Maple collaborated closely with architects CJCT to guarantee that we had captured their vision in its entirety. From renders to fixing details, Maple provided CJCT with everything they needed to ensure that the project will be a success.
Construction is currently underway, with completion anticipated in early 2026. Once completed, the car park is expected to play a vital role in town centre regeneration and improved accessibility to Bridlington’s attractions.
