Our Contracts Manager, Bob McMann has also been recognised for his safe practice onsite.
We have been supplying and installing more than 1,400 sq m of vertical fins and 3,700 sq m of expanded mesh panels onto the 1,700-space hospital car park. The development is being delivered by VINCI Construction UK and is due for completion in 2024.
The vertical fins come from Maple’s Corona range of rectangular blades and will be installed as pre-assembled cassettes – each containing multiple blades for efficient off-site manufacture, and quicker and safer installation.
The aluminium blades will be anodised in a range of muted colours to achieve architects Gilling Dod’s vision of a car park that responds to the concerns of local residents. On that note, the fins have also been designed to reduce light pollution from car headlights.
Expanded mesh panels, anodised in natural silver, will feature on all elevations and at lower levels of the four and five-storey car park. Maple are also providing mesh impact barriers and anti-climb fencing to the top level of the car park.
Additionally, a member of the Maple Team, Bob McMann, has been awarded ‘Safest Site Supervisor’ at the Project Principals Meeting for the Grindley Hill Project. Bob was suggested for the award by the Vinci Projects Team due to his exceptional conduct onsite. Congratulations Bob!
Grindley Hill multi-storey will provide a permanent parking solution for the University Hospitals of the North Midlands following the demolition of two nearby sites, which are being developed for much-needed local housing.
