Maple’s hexagon-inspired car park façade in Warrington is part of a prestigious design excellence nomination.

The town’s Time Square development is in the running for a top prize at the Insider North West Property Awards 2020.

It’s the latest in a long line of awards and nominations for the shopping, restaurant and leisure hub, and its imaginative multi-storey car park – a collaboration between Maple, architects Leach Rhodes Walker, Muse Developments and Warrington Borough Council.

The Design Excellence award nomination, which also recognises deliverability and control of costs, is further evidence that the car park, now complete and operational, is continuing to catch the eye.

The car park is cloaked in a gold-coloured architectural façade, which is not only designed to keep out wind and rain and provide ventilation but also to make a bold aesthetic statement.

More than 1,700 perforated panels, covering the area of a football pitch, have golden hexagon-shaped cut-outs and are anodised and powder-coated for durability.

The winner will be announced at the sell-out awards in Manchester in October.
