The Green Technology Centre will prepare students for a career in sustainable construction and electric vehicle manufacturing.
Maple have recently won the contract to install a range of products for a new technology centre at Peterborough College whose curriculum will specialise in sustainable construction.
The £13.5m development will also be leading by example by being a ‘net zero build’ meaning it will be powered by renewable energy and any remaining carbon will be offset.
Maple’s rainscreen cladding system and Aurora brise soleil will actively contribute to the building’s net zero nature. Aspect Rainscreen façade system, which will clad three elevations of the centre, has been designed for enhanced thermal efficiency and so reduces the need for heating, consequently lowering energy consumption and associated emissions. To learn more about how rainscreen cladding can help achieve net zero, take a look at our recent Knowledge Centre article here.
Our Aurora brise soleil system will also assist the development in achieving net zero by providing shading and glare control which reduces the demand for internal cooling and energy conversion. The brise soleil will be formed into cassettes offsite before being installed between large aluminium fins that Maple are also supplying and installing on the main elevation.
Maple look forward to being a part of this innovative development designed to help forge future construction careers.
