The new net zero teaching facility is the latest completed development as part of the IoT network.
In collaboration with Davlyn Construction, Maple have recently installed 83 perforated fins onto the south-east and north-east elevations of the new East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIoT).r
The design of the facility is the brainchild of architect YMD Boon and strikes the right balance between being visually striking and being conscious of the surrounding architecture. Maple’s perforated fins span across two levels of the development and have been fixed at inverted angles to create a sense of balanced variation. Not to mention, the EMIoT has also been designed to be net zero which has been a growing consideration in the construction world over the last 5 years, particularly in light of the government's Net Zero strategy.
The perforated fins are part of Maple’s Vector façade system which incorporates aerofoil or rectangular profiles set at either vertical or horizontal orientations depending on specification needs. Vector is one of our most popular systems and has been featured on many award-winning projects such as Victoria Gate Multi-Storey Car Park. Most recently, it is being installed onto another Institute of Technology, Green Technology Centre, which is part of the same network as EMIoT.
