Maple played an important role in a sustainability-led, re-use project in central London.

With retained features and recycled materials central to the refurbishment of a former print works and gin distillery in Clerkenwell, we used timber for a bespoke rooftop plant screen

Although aluminium could also have provided a sustainable option, the wooden louvres fitted in better with the client’s vision for a ‘responsible reinvention’ of Laser House.

The rooftop screen hides machinery and equipment from view, and complements the four-storey brick façade, which was retained to reflect the character of the surrounding area.

Laser House provides more than 80,000 sq ft of office space for small and medium-size business, and up to 850 people.

“We’re delighted to have worked with the Graham Group on this important refurbishment, and to be able to add value to the project with sustainable, high-grade timber,” said Maple’s Managing Director, Sean McGrath.
