Maple have won a new contract to supply and install a louvred rooftop plant screen for the European Space Agency’s new events venue in Didcot.

The system uses aluminium louvres spaced at 100mm to hide HVAC machinery from view, and to provide some protection from the worst of the elements. The louvres will be powder-coated in anthracite grey to match the rest of the new building.

The centre, which is due to be completed later in 2022, is sited at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire. It will host events that showcase the role of space activities in the UK, Europe and across the world.

The facility is backed by the UK Space Agency, and is being built by UK firm Amiri Construction.

Maple have been designing, manufacturing and installing louvres for more than 30 years. During that time, we’ve seen them evolve from basic screening products (such as the type being used in Didcot) to advanced systems offering best-in-class performance and compelling commercial benefits.

Maple's Pluto louvre system is lightweight and easy to install and hides unsightly HVAC machinery

It’s lightweight and easy to install - an important consideration for rooftop locations and fixes directly to the building sub-frame. Viewed from the ground, it’s a sleek system of powder-coated or anodised aluminium louvres.
