Pendle Police Station

GOVERNMENT | ARCHITECTURAL FAÇADES

The three-storey policing hub in Nelson has recently been handed over to Lancashire Constabulary, marking its successful completion. The new facility will replace older stations in Nelson and Colne and provide a modern base for policing teams in Pendle, including response, neighbourhood and investigation teams.

The project was delivered in collaboration with Willmott Dixon and Pick Everard and involved the design, supply and installation of Vector® fins to the curtain wall on the building’s south and east elevations. The façade predominantly consists of vertical fins, with some horizontal fins helping to create a picture-frame effect across the building.

Maple’s pre-construction team were involved during the early design stages to help the client visualise how the fins would attach to the curtain wall. The fins are supported using horizontal carrier arms fitted back to the curtain walling system, helping to achieve the intended architectural finish.

The completion of Pendle Police Station marks another blue light project for Maple Façades. Our work on Horsham Fire Station, also delivered in collaboration with Willmott Dixon, featured a geometric-style façade and went on to win ‘Building Project of the Year over £20 million’ at the Constructing Excellence Awards 2024.

The new station is expected to open in early spring 2026.
