Supporting Collyhurst Nursery School with a new sensory room

SOCIAL VALUE PROJECTS

Maple helped create a safe, calming and inclusive space for children with additional sensory needs in Manchester.

As part of our commitment to supporting communities local to our projects, Maple helped create a new sensory room for Collyhurst Nursery School in Manchester.

Collyhurst is one of the most deprived areas in Manchester, and there was no comparable sensory facility available locally for families across Ancoats, Collyhurst and Newton Heath. The school identified a clear need for a dedicated space that could support children with additional needs while also providing a valuable resource for the wider community.

Maple supported the refurbishment by helping prepare and repaint the room, laying a new foam floor and installing a bubble wall as a key sensory feature. We also supported the sourcing and installation of additional sensory equipment, including a fibre optic curtain, soft play den, colour-changing table, mirrors and a projector.

The result is a first-of-its-kind local resource that will support children’s wellbeing, improve access to specialist sensory provision and create a lasting benefit for families in the surrounding community.
