Farnborough Conference Centre
OFFICE AND RETAIL | BRISE SOLEIL
Maple delivered a striking arrangement of aluminium brise soleil blades for the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, creating a dynamic, aeronautical-inspired façade for the Hampshire venue, which opened in March 2018.
Designed by Terence O’Rourke, the purpose-built facility draws heavily on Farnborough’s heritage as the birthplace of British aviation. In response, Maple installed five levels of aerofoil-profiled blades sweeping in three dimensions across the front elevation, with additional curved elements applied to the east façade to reinforce the concept.
Working closely with the project team, Maple engineered a solution using heavy-duty Vector brise soleil to accommodate the longer spans and complex geometry. Specialist fixings were developed for both cladding and glazed curtain wall interfaces, ensuring performance and visual consistency across the façade.
The result is a seamless composition of flowing blades that enhances the building’s identity while reflecting its strong connection to aeronautical innovation.
