Maple are helping East Herts Council deliver a car park with architectural merit in Bishop’s Stortford conservation area.

The main features of the Northgate End multi-storey will be two impressive brick towers that will contain the access ramps for motorists. The towers will have 5m high openings to provide natural light and ventilation (as well as visual impact) with Maple providing laser-cut aluminium panels to keep out the elements.

Our vertical panels are part of a much larger project that includes more than 600 laser-cut and expanded mesh panels across all elevations – designed to balance functionality and aesthetics within a conservation area.

Laser-cut perforated panels, with the same rust-effect PPC finish as those on the ramp, will cloak the south elevation. Grey powder-coated expanded mesh panels will be installed on the north-west and east elevations, while the west façade will sit alongside a living wall.

The car park will provide 546 spaces over six floors and is central to the Council’s plans to regenerate the Old River Lane area into a cultural quarter that includes a £30m arts centre, shops, offices, homes and a public square for events.
