Maple are honoured to announce that one of our projects has won the prestigious ‘Best New Car Park’ at the British Parking awards.

We have recently finished bringing architect, Tonkin Liu’s vision to reality by installing nearly 2,000 perforated panels onto a multi-storey car park in Sunderland city centre. The project has already received national attention thanks to its innovative design.

The façade complements the car park’s coastal area through the perforated impression of waves which span across all four elevations of the building. The silver anodised panels also suit the car park’s seaside location as they provide protection against corrosive salty air.

The new façade features a living wall, delivered by ANS Global, and controlled illumination to create a bright urban landmark that looks just as impressive at night as it does during the day.

Adam Jones, Head of Design and Pre-Construction here at Maple, said: ‘It’s a great demonstration of how architectural façades are capable of making something as ordinary as a car park into an impressive city landmark.'

Farringdon Row was one of two Maple projects that were nominated at the British Parking Awards, as Chester Northgate was also in the running for ‘Best New Car Park’.
