Family values are at the heart of a new multi-storey project in Milton Keynes.

Maple are working with German construction company Goldbeck Gmbh on the 700-space car park next to the town’s central railway station.

The project is the latest in a series of collaborations and brings together Goldbeck’s car park experience and Maple’s specific expertise in architectural façades. However, it also aligns the two firms’ core values of openness, respect and social responsibility.

“We’re both second-generation family firms and have a very similar mindset,” said Maple director Sean McGrath, whose father Trevor founded the company in the 1980s.

“We both obviously have a lot of experience in our sector, and in car park construction in particular, but we also put people first – supporting our own employees and working closely with others to deliver great outcomes.”

Maple are supplying and installing nearly 1,300 laser-cut perforated panels and solid panels to create a façade that will protect car park users from the elements, while still allowing natural light and ventilation. It amounts to 3,500 square metres of façade panels, and is expected to take 12 weeks to install.

“The relationship we have with Goldbeck, and the respect and understanding we have for each other’s operations, means we hope to complete the project ahead of schedule,” said Sean.

When complete later in 2020, the new car park will meet the increased demand for car park spaces created by the region’s expanding rail services.
