We have won the contract to install fins, solid panels and expanded mesh onto a car park in Dundee.

Maple will play an active role in refurbishing a multi-storey car park in Dundee. The new façade will comprise three products from Maple’s architectural façade range: vertical fins, solid panels and expanded mesh.

The main elevations of the car park will comprise bronze vertical fins. To add a sense of variation, the continuous façade will feature random intervals to create a pattern, and bronze fins will also be installed on the two spiralling car ramps. To prevent the façade from becoming monotonous, two different fin sizes will be installed in alternating bands along the ramps.

As well as a modern façade, the refurbishment involves the construction of a new stair core that will be clad using Maple’s solid panels. Bronze panels will cloak each face of the stair core to match the bronze fins, meanwhile, black panels will frame the stair core and break up the expanses of bronze façade elements.

Lastly, the third Maple product featuring on Bell Street MSCP is our expanded mesh panels which will be installed onto each side of the stair core and the lower levels of the east, south and west faces. Expanded mesh is often incorporated into façade design as it enables the façade to meet the required free area for ventilation. To learn more about the benefits of expanded mesh, take a look at our Knowledge Centre article: Why should I use expanded mesh on an architectural façade?

The redevelopment of the car park serves as part of Dundee City Council’s goal to tackle climate change in the city and achieve net zero emissions by 2045. The upgraded car park has been designed to incorporate 350 electrical vehicle charging points, car share spaces, and e-bike hire.
