Willen Lake in Milton Keynes is a great place for Premier Inn’s latest hotel and restaurant development. So, Maple have made sure guests enjoy the setting but don’t get blinded by the light.
We’ve installed a brise soleil system that protects guests from direct sun, but doesn’t spoil views of the lake. Maple’s Aurora blade system projects at right angles from the building, creating a 2m wide ‘shelf’ above the windows that cuts out the sun and reduces solar gain.
The system has been designed in collaboration with CHQ Architects and Carter Lauren Construction. “The designs for the hotel and family restaurant really connect with the lake, providing striking views,” said Jamie Baker, Development Manager at Whitbread, who own Premier Inn.
As well as the brise soleil, Maple supplied and installed a louvred rooftop screening system to hide unsightly HVAC machinery from view.
The Willen Lake hotel was our latest project for Premier Inn after we created a stunning 3D architectural façade for their landmark development in Manchester’s Circle Square.
