Maple Façades have won the contract to install a brise soleil system onto Harwell Science and Innovation Campus's latest development.
Maple Façades will be working alongside SDC Builders Ltd on an exciting new project for the UK’s leading science and innovation campus. Harwell’s ‘Zeta’ building will provide premium office spaces and laboratories for research and development.
Zenith brise soleil panels will be fixed to the south and east elevations of the buildings to provide solar shading and visual appeal. Furthermore, on the east, south and west faces, vertical and horizontal blades will form an L shape to protect the windows from solar glare. All the brise soleil panels are to be powder-coated black to match the modern aesthetic of the campus.
The brise soleil panels will be a pivotal part of Harwell’s plans to ensure that Zeta meets Net Zero Carbon Building standards. The design and placement of the panels will provide shading and glare control which reduces the demand for internal cooling and therefore energy conversion.
The new research and development facility is expected to be available for use later this year.
