Maple delivered profiled aluminium façade panels for a five storey building in Manchester, creating a striking concertina inspired design across the elevation. Around 3,000 square metres of aluminium were folded to form a pleated effect, with perforated panels carefully integrated to accommodate LED lighting. Close coordination with specialist designers and the use of 3D renders and prototypes ensured the concept was realised with precision.
A bespoke gutter system with concealed drainage maintained clean architectural lines, while specialist fixings achieved millimetre perfect joints. A compartmentalised fire barrier system was installed in line with current regulations to prevent fire spread within the pleated voids, and Kalzip panels were supplied and installed to complete the roof.
It's a project that stands out not just for its scale, but also for the level of collaboration that has been necessary between Maple, lighting designers, architect and all contractors to make it a success
