Maple supplied and installed two types of brise soleil systems for a Nottingham leisure centre that rose from the ashes

Rushcliffe Arena was damaged by fire while closed for refurbishment ― but opened on-target in January 2017. We were just one of many companies who worked closely together to complete the £13m project, which will provide a modern home for Rushcliffe Borough Council as well as a range of leisure facilities.

Demonstrating the scope and versatility of our products, we installed bespoke façades along the length of the building, as well as pre-built cassette-style brise soleil for the pool area to provide solar shading for leisure centre users. Although brise soleil are typically angled at 62 degrees to protect building interiors from summer sun, an angle of 45 degrees at Rushcliffe also provided privacy for the swimmers.

As well as a 25-metre swimming pool, learner pool and fitness suite, other leisure facilities include a six-rink indoor bowls hall, aerobics and group cycling studios, and squash courts.

Neil Clarke, leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council, said: “Our new, purpose-built facility works for a modern council and also meets the needs of our community.”
