The Centre for Green Technology's net zero nature aligns with its curriculum, ensuring that sustainability is integrated into both its design and purpose.

Peterborough College’s new cutting-edge £13.5 million development is not just an educational facility but has also been designed to be a net zero build.

‘The Green Technology Centre’ is set to become an educational hub for sustainable construction and electric vehicle technology courses. By utilising renewable energy and offsetting any remaining carbon, the building reflects its curriculum on sustainable construction.

Maple Façades collaborated with Clegg Construction to install rainscreen cladding, brise soleil and architectural fins all of which provide a visual impact whilst actively contributing to the building’s energy efficiency. Aspect® Rainscreen Façade System clads three elevations of the centre and has been engineered for enhanced thermal efficiency, reducing the need for energy conversion and emissions. In addition to the rainscreen cladding, we have also installed large green aluminium fins that reflect not only the name of the centre but also its nature.

Between these fins sits Skyvane® brise soleil which provides shading and glare control, effectively decreasing the demand for internal cooling and lowering overall energy usage. The blades were pre-formed into cassettes offsite for efficient installation.

Roger Bancroft, Senior Project Manager at Clegg Construction commended Maple's services saying 'Maple displayed a great collaborative approach to sorting issues onsite and good attention to detail to ensure the cladding system works. The finished product looks good quality.'

The completion of the Green Technology Centre marks the latest sustainable build for Maple following our bespoke brise soleil installation for Harwell’s Zeta building.
