Maple’s latest blue light project in Pendle features Vector fins

Written by Amy Bradbury | 15/11/24 09:52

The £18m project serves to enhance policing services in East Lancashire.

Maple have recently won the contract to install over 200 fins onto a new police station in Lancashire. The multi-purpose policing hub will replace older stations in Nelson and Colne and host modern policing facilities to help keep the Pendle community safe.

The project is in collaboration with Willmott Dixon and Pick Everard and involves the supply and installation of Vector fins to the curtain wall on the building’s south and east elevations. The façade will predominantly consist of vertical fins with some horizontal fins to create an appealing picture-frame effect.

Maple’s pre-construction team were on hand in the early design stages to help the client visualise how the fins would attach to the curtain wall. As you can see from the 3D render below, the fins will be supported using horizontal carrier arms that are fitted back to the curtain walling system. Pendle Police Station is the latest in a long list of blue light projects for Maple Façades. Our installation of a geometric style façade for Horsham Fire Station was also in collaboration with Willmott Dixon and recently won ‘Building Project of the Year over £20 million’ at The Constructing Excellence Awards 2024.

Work on the new three-storey policing hub has already begun on site with completion expected in autumn 2025.
