Maple To Install Façades For New Liverpool Car Park | Maple

Maple have teamed up with main contractor Willmott Dixon and architects Leach Rhodes Walker on another striking car park project in Liverpool.

We recently worked together on the Victoria Street multi-storey, designing and installing an architectural façade that echoed the city’s maritime history.

For the new project at Monarch’s Quay on Liverpool’s waterfront, the ‘fishing net’ design has been replaced by a façade that takes its inspiration from multi-mast sailing ships.

Diamond shapes representing the iconic vessels will create an abstract design across the whole façade, which will be made up of 3 metre high aluminium panels.

The challenging design required us to work closely with LRW and construction firm Willmott Dixon from the very beginning (just as we did at Victoria Street). Together, we established the most practical and cost-effective way to bring the architect’s vision to reality – right down to matching the powder-coated finish to the brickwork.

The new nine-floor, 1,650-space car park will serve the M&S Bank Arena, BT Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre Liverpool. It will replace the previous car park at King’s Dock, which was destroyed by fire, along with 1,400 cars, on New Year’s Eve 2017. It is planned for completion by Christmas 2019 at a cost over £26m.
