Powder-coated
aluminium panels will create a textured diamond effect on the new £23m multi-storey in the town’s Baltic Quarter.
“It’s a sign of the times that the car park design is being described as ‘futuristic’,” said Maple’s Managing Director, Sean McGrath, whose colleagues will be working closely with contractors Willmott Dixon to bring Ryder Architecture’s imaginative concept to life.
“Architectural façades are being used more and more to help car parks make an important visual statement in our towns and cities, and we’re especially proud to be part of this project.”
The façade is similar to Maple’s project at
Circle Square in Manchester, where a seemingly complex 3D design is made up of standard triangular panels for manufacturing and installation efficiency.
In addition to the main façade, Maple will supply and install solid rainscreen panels to the exterior of the car ramps and stair core.
The Baltic Quarter car park will be Maple’s third major project with Willmott Dixon in two years, after successful collaborations on Liverpool’s Victoria Street and
Kings Dock car parks.
As well as helping to bring Ryder’s vision to reality, we’ll be working to achieve high sustainability standards with low-impact construction techniques and minimal waste.
