There are strict regulations that set out what people involved in construction work need to do to protect themselves from harm, as well as anyone their work affects.
These include regulations for fire safety, working at height, lifting and handling, and the use of tools, machinery and work equipment. In most cases, there are mandatory qualifications that need to be achieved before anyone can work for us in our factory or on site.
We also ensure that all employees receive proper training for operating relevant tools, machinery and equipment.
At the same time, we recognise that training and development needs to go much further than helping people stay safe and ensuring our products and services are delivered to the very highest quality.
There is currently a skills shortage in the construction industry and it is vital that companies in the sector widen the talent pool by attracting and retaining staff.
At Maple, we recognise that our people are our greatest assets, so we are committed to training and development programmes that lead to qualifications in construction and, in turn, a more motivated and skilled workforce.
Therefore, every individual within Maple has a personal development plan – not just because it is an important part of our ISO certification, but because it is also the right thing to do.
Many of the training programmes we support lead to professional qualifications – providing evidence that shows our employees are competent and skilled within their role in the business.
We are also training our employees with skills for the future – digital transformation is currently huge in our industry and directly affects our office staff and design team. But we also ensure our factory and onsite teams are equipped with the transferrable skills to advance their careers within site supervision and management roles.
