What material is used for brackets and fixings?

Architectural façade and solar shading companies will typically use A2 and A4 stainless steel for fixings, fasteners and brackets.

There is no noticeable difference between the two grades. A2 (often referred to as 304 stainless) is most commonly used but A4 (316) offers greater corrosion resistance.

As a result, A4 stainless steel fixings are used in exposed, marine environments. They’re more expensive but can be more cost-effective in the long-run as they required less maintenance.
