The 1,000 sq m single-storey building will house the hospital’s new urgent and emergency care services. And although life-saving work will happen at ground level, it won’t ever be possible without vital HVAC machinery on the roof.
That’s often a challenge for architects keen to combine practicality with aesthetics on new buildings. So, Maple’s
plant screen, which will extend around the roof, will play a small but important part.
The 2m high screen, comprising 100mm louvres powder-coated in
Aluminium Grey, will hide the plant from street level and neighbouring buildings.
Matthew Hopkins, chief executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "This development will give us a bigger and better urgent care facility, and that is great news for our patients and staff.”
