Plant screening installation completed in Birkenhead

Maple has supplied and installed louvre screens onto two large office developments on The Wirral in one of our largest screening projects to date.

One of our largest plant screening projects has reached practical completion. Maple worked alongside Morgan Sindall to install louvred plant screens and perimeter copings onto each roof of two five-storey office buildings in Birkenhead town centre.

The louvres play an important role in the overall aesthetics of the building as they mask the HVAC plant and machinery from view whilst also providing protection for the equipment.

The two screens reached lengths of 120m and 90m and were powder-coated in anodic soft champagne and steel bronze. The anodic PPC range was chosen over anodising by architects AHR due to its renowned durability and superior weather resistance. The protection provided by the powder coating will prove valuable due to the building’s proximity to the corrosive effect of the Mersey Estuary.

The head of UK property at Canada Life, Michael White, said: “The two office buildings will provide the Wirral with gold standard, modern workspaces which meet the highest standards of energy efficiency.”

The project is our latest scheme in the Office and Retail sector following our plant screen installation for Zurich UK offices in Swindon in 2022. It was commissioned by The Wirral Growth Company as part of their initiative to ‘offer energy-efficient accommodation to help meet the requirement for quality workspace in the town and hopefully attract new businesses to the area.’
