Maple complete fin facade and louvre installation at Stafford College

The application of large vertical fins and plant screen louvres has recently finished at a prestigious college in Stafford.

We began work on the project in November last year and now, almost a year later, we can see the impressive final product.  We worked alongside contractors Bowmer + Kirkland on the project which involved the design, supply and installation of large vertical fins and plant screen louvres.

The fins are made of aluminium and coated using woodgrain effect powder-coating, as real timber would have proven too heavy given the length of span. Maple implemented modern methods of construction by pre-assembling the fins offsite at our Stockport factory to enable easier installation and maintain a better handle on quality. The timber-effect fins not only clad the faces of the college, but also form a ‘roof’ across a large, curved façade.

The new building has been named a ‘Skills and Innovation Hub’ and provides a range of new benefits for Stafford College students such as a four-court sports hall, state-of-the-art skills and construction facilities and a 300-seat auditorium.
