The application of large vertical fins and plant screen louvres has recently finished at a prestigious college in Stafford.

We began work on the project in November last year and now, almost a year later, we can see the impressive final product.  We worked alongside contractors Bowmer + Kirkland on the project which involved the design, supply and installation of large vertical fins and plant screen [louvres](https://maplefacades.co.uk/louvres-new).

The [fins](https://maplefacades.co.uk/architectural-facades-systems#vector%C2%AE) are made of aluminium and coated using woodgrain effect powder-coating, as real timber would have proven too heavy given the length of span. Maple implemented [modern methods of construction](https://maplefacades.co.uk/knowledge/modern-methods-of-construction) by pre-assembling the fins offsite at our Stockport factory to enable easier installation and maintain a better handle on quality. The timber-effect fins not only clad the faces of the college, but also form a ‘roof’ across a large, curved façade.

The new building has been named a ‘Skills and Innovation Hub’ and provides a range of new benefits for Stafford College students such as a four-court sports hall, state-of-the-art skills and construction facilities and a 300-seat auditorium.
