Maple have won the contract to provide vertical screening for the expansion of Kao Data’s Harlow data centre.
The screening will be based on our Aurora brise soleil system. But instead of protecting the building from sunlight, it will create a colourful feature on the KLON-02 building.
It’s the brainchild of architects Marchini Curran Associates, who have worked closely with Maple and main contractors JCA Engineering on the final design.
The vertical blades will be installed in a range of colours to all four elevations of the 3,400 sq m building, which will provide more than 10MW of capacity and house 1,800 racks of IT equipment.
While the data centre will have its state-of-the-art cooling infrastructure, Maple are also installing ventilation louvres for the building’s HVAC locations.
Kao Data develop and operate high performance data centres for advanced computing. KLON-02 is the second of four centres planned for the company’s Harlow campus.
Maple are due on site in January 2023.
