Here at Maple, we’re used to supplying products for challenging environments – you might not think student accommodation would be one of them.
At the Greenbank Student Village at the University of Liverpool, we were commissioned to supply and install roller blinds that were up to the challenge.
While ‘indestructible’ was the word used by the architect, we responded with 150 blinds that were ‘built to last’.
The blinds for the bedrooms, kitchen and common areas in refurbished Derby Court feature special heavy-duty fabric, side guide wires and crank-handle controls. Installation involved high-specification fixings and Maple’s typical attention to detail.
All metal components are powder-coated to a specified RAL colour, while the fabric ranges from total black-out for bedrooms to 5% dim-out for other areas.
Installation was completed in just four days, and was followed by a separate project to supply electrically operated blinds for high-level windows in the village’s larger function halls.
The development of Greenbank Student Village will include three new-build accommodation blocks and the refurbishment of existing building to provide 1,361 rooms and facilities for undergraduate students. Work is expected to be completed later this year.
Following the success of Derby Old Court, Maple have now been commissioned to complete the internal blinds of phase 2 of the project.
