We’re supplying and installing
brise soleil for the Driver & Vehicle Agency’s new test centre and offices in Belfast.
The sun’s glare can be a danger on the roads. But it can also make life uncomfortable for visitors and staff in large, glazed buildings.
Maple’s aerofoil blade system will be fixed to the south elevation, where the horizontal spans will shade out the sun when it’s at its highest and brightest.
Vertical blades will do a similar job for low-level sun on the east and west elevations, while horizontal blades on the north elevation will be largely aesthetic.
The design is the brainchild of RPP Architects, who will be working with local contractors O’Hare McGovern and Maple to deliver the £16m project.
All three partners will be working together to ensure the building will be delivered to a BREEAM Excellent rating, reflecting the importance of sustainability on a project that will transform a brownfield site in the Hydebank are of the city.
