Maple are working with Willmott Dixon on an exciting new project in Dunstable.
The façade will protect an external staircase and is made up of curved panels, which are perforated and powder-coated in anthracite grey. To retain their form when installed, the aluminium panels will have internal stiffeners, which also need to be curved.
Because the four-storey building is not overlooked and the rooftop HVAC machinery can’t be seen from ground level, Maple’s screening system has been chosen primarily for its acoustic properties. A single bank of 100mm louvres, will help reduce noise pollution for health staff and patients, and nearby residents.
When complete, the hub will offer a range of services, including community mental health and children’s services. As part of the project for Central Bedfordshire Council, Willmott Dixon are also building 98 homes for residents aged over 55 on the site.
