The development serves to replace the current school building which has fallen into disrepair.
Maple Façades has recently won the contract for the design, supply and installation of an
expanded mesh façade onto Burlington Junior School. The project involves the re-development and expansion of the main school building which was reported to have been ‘falling apart’ and unfit for purpose.
The project, designed by architects TMP Studios, consists of a façade comprising pink expanded mesh panels, each featuring a border to create an elegant picture-frame effect. The band of the panels will be inset with solid, flat panels of the same colour to further complement the framing effect.
Furthermore, the expanded mesh panels will be used to frame the new garden terrace along with pink flashing.
One of the many benefits of using expanded mesh on an architectural façade is that it can be finished in a range of colours which helps to achieve different architectural effects. The colour pink is often linked with creativity, making it a great design choice for Burlington Junior School.
The £24.5m building will provide a range of amenities and help to accommodate the growing demand for student places in New Malden. It is expected to reach completion in the summer of 2025.
