Powder Coated Brise Soleil Protects Glazed Extension | Maple

Powder-coated in red to match the school’s branding, Maple’s shading at Ashville College is a work of art. And not just because we say so.

The four-blade façade is 13m long and 4m high and is designed to protect a new glazed extension from direct sun. At 1m deep, the rectangular blades shade the gym and new offices. The system even incorporates thermal brackets to control heat transfer from the outside in.

The system is effective and technologically advanced but you’d never know… because the shading looks like a gigantic red picture frame.

It’s one of the best examples of how we can work with architects (in this case DLG) to create a product that’s intrinsically practical ― and aesthetically stunning.

Ashville College is an independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 3-18 years. However, the new sports complex will be used by pupils and members of the Harrogate public ― putting hundreds of people ‘in the picture’.
