Maple win architectural façade contract for Cheltenham car park

Maple have won a prestigious contract to supply and install an architectural façade with trapezoidal fins for a new multi-storey car park and transport interchange in Cheltenham.

Around 1,800 pearl gold vertical fins will clad the building, which is the central part of the new £20m Arle Court transport hub.

Architectural fins are an integral part of modern car-park design – providing light and ventilation, as well as transforming functional structures into great-looking buildings that make a difference to the urban aesthetic.

At Arle Court, Maple worked with architects BDP and main contractor Kier on an imaginative design that combines Maple’s Corona system with bespoke trapezoidal fins to give the impression of texture and movement. We used advanced 3D modelling and renders to bring the design to life on screen.

“This was a great contract to win, amid tough competition,” said Maple’s Commercial Manager, Duncan Graham, “and says a lot about our experience and reputation in delivering cutting-edge architectural façades for modern buildings. We’re very proud to be working on this scheme.”

More powder-coated fins will clad the entrance canopy and bicycle store, while a white horizontal trim fixed by angled cleats to the side of the fins will complete the striking design intent.

Maple are also installing steel grating fencing and ferruled mesh to several areas of the new car park, which will double capacity at the park-and-ride facility to more than 1,000 when it opens in 2024.
