Maple showcase product range on Hull office development and car park

Maple have completed work on Arco’s new £16m office development in Hull’s Fruit Market.

The project for the UK’s only integrated services and safety products business involved the installation of vertical fins, brise soleil light shelves and louvered rooftop plant screens on the five-storey building.

In a parallel project, also for main contractor PDR Construction, we’ve installed fins and an expanded mesh façade to the nearby 350-space multi-storey car park.

The office development is a significant project for Arco, who were founded in Hull, but also for Maple - the architectural façade on the city’s Bonus Arena car park is already one of our landmark projects.

While the fins and light shelves will protect Arco’s 600 office workers from the sun’s glare, the large fins – which have a triangular profile from Maple's aurora aerofoil system – will make a strong visual statement alongside the multi-storey car park within Hull’s rapidly expanding waterfront area.

“Our new home is the largest new-build office development for a single user in the Hull area since the 1960s,” said Arco’s Estates & Facilities Project Leader, Steve Owen. “The overall look of the new development is modern and bold, and has already received many positive comments about its ‘iconic’ appearance.”

The location of the development means the fins and louvred screen are marine-grade anodised to protect the aluminium from the corrosive effects of salt spray from the Humber estuary. Meanwhile, on the nearby car park, our mesh façade will provide the framework for a ‘green wall’ in keeping with the Fruit Market’s commercial roots.

Councillor Daren Hale, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “The Arco relocation is a major part of our long-term vision for the city centre, and key to the regeneration and investment that continues to take place on the Fruit Market.”
