The (Many) Benefits Of Anodising | Maple

Most people know that anodising is a cost-effective method of protecting aluminium against corrosion. But do you know that the process is also providing endless design possibilities for building exteriors?

Anodising creates a translucent finish that enhances the natural qualities of the metal and responds to changing light conditions throughout the day and across the seasons.

The long-established process creates a surface that’s second only to diamonds in toughness. However, advances in technology mean that different colours, textures and patterns can now be incorporated in the anodising process to create a unique aesthetic.

Unlike paint or applied coatings, an electro-chemical process thickens and toughens naturally occurring oxides to create a totally integrated aluminium oxide layer. The result is a durable material with lifetime performance against corrosion and abrasion. It can’t peel, chip, flake or blister because the ‘coating’ is actually part of the metal.
